Why Fans Think Taylor Swift Made Cheeky Nod to Travis Kelce Anniversary During Eras Tour With Ed Sheeran

Taylor Swift Returns to Eras Tour in London After Vienna Terror Plot

Travis Kelce has been the king of Taylor Swift's heart for over a year now.

Case in point: The "Cruel Summer" singer seemingly made a cheeky reference to the start of her fateful romance with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end while performing her song "End Game" alongside Ed Sheeran at her Aug. 15 Eras Tour show in London.

In a video shared to X (formerly Twitter) Aug. 15, Taylor, 34, was seen sticking out her tongue and giving Ed, 33, a huge grin while the "Shape of You" artist sang the line, "After the storm, something was born on the Fourth of July."

Many fans speculated that the Grammy winner's reaction could have been nodding to how she spent her Fourth of July weekend last year, when she confirmed her single status by writing on Instagram that she spent Independence Day as an “independent girlie.” Just one day later, she performed a concert in Kansas City that Travis attended with a friendship bracelet and a dream, kickstarting their epic love story.

"Oh I know she kicks her feet and giggles over every invisible string," one X user commented under the "End Game" video, while another wrote, "Oh girly we know what was born on the 4th of july."

Others believed her reaction had more to do with her simply loving that lyric, as Taylor previously shared in a 2017 behind-the-scenes video with Ed that the line "makes her really happy." Of course, that may be because the verse refers to the Tortured Poet Department artist's 2015 Fourth of July party, where he reconnected with his wife of five years Cherry Seaborn

"She loves that part," one user quipped, while another added, "That's really funny and I love how she's so entertained by that."

Either way, Travis got a special shoutout at the Wembley Stadium show. After all, during her surprise set, Taylor also performed her Tortured Poets Department track "The Alchemy," which appears to reference her and the NFL star's sweet celebration after his team's 2024 Super Bowl win.

On the track's bridge, the "Fortnight" singer sings, "Cheers chanted, 'cause they said / There was no chance, trying to be/ The greatest in the league / Where's the trophy? / He just comes running over to me."
